Until He Comes Home

by lexie   Sep 16, 2008

We fear everyday for that fateful phone call,
FALLEN SOLDIERS.
MANY WOUNDED.
MULTIPLE DEAD.

I fear the day those suits come knocking on my door.
We pray and we hope,
We weep but always try to smile,
But we can only hold it in for so long.

Until the day he comes home,
I'm looking to the sky,
Asking for strength and hoping him safety.
I see them everyday,

DROP BEATS NOT BOMBS.
PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
GOD HATES WAR.

So easily you forget the things soldiers have done.

But I will go on in my life,
Everyday hoping he's alive,
He's a hero to me,
For what he's done.

Say what you want to,
All I will ask of you,
Is what have you done?
What is it you have become?

I'm gonna stand here proudly and wait,
Head up high and feet planted firm,
Smile on my face and tears in my eyes,
Because someday he's coming home.

The only thing i would change is the last verse , the word cuz . It throws off the sad emotions brought on by the rest of the poem , which is overall really well written . I would never be able to imagine that pain if it weren't for seeing it through your eyes . 5/5

I can relate to that awful feeling of waiting and hoping day in and day out when you have no control of the situation at all. It's best to just keep your mind busy and think positive thoughts everything will be okay :) Great job 5/5 GG23 p.s. I think that if you actually spell words the proper way it'll make your writing much better in appearance and sound. For example you say "cuz" in your last line, but I think it would be much better as because....great job though regardless :)
