African bush fire

by Grant Gilbert AKA Slash   Sep 18, 2008

African bush fire

Run, run, got to hide got to move
Got to run got to groove
This fire is speeding
A driving inferno

Can't see, can't see, a maelstrom of ash
Billowing smoke so thick and so warm
Heat and fire burg wind blowing
Bellows from hell cannot compare

Leaping and jumping, these racing flames
Can't seem to beat them in this hellish game
Licking and burning, a touch that destroys
An African bush fire the past few days

Yelling and shouting above the noise
Exploding trees and roaring shrubs
Fear consumes as I stand my ground
Hurling a pathetic stream at the approaching sound

Flooding tears, eyes just a slit
Struggling to breathe, no oxygen left
Head is spinning, up is down, down is up
African bush fire wins once more

    This was truely amazing.
We get pretty bad bush fires where i live.. but they dont really compare to the ones that you wrote about. I cant seem to get the image out of my mind.. raging fires.. looks of horror..

You wrote this in such a way, I could almost feel the flames, Grant!

How terrifying it must have been for you and your family!
