Payphone

by jLegendc   Oct 2, 2008

It was a dark, gloomy midnight,
My unending tears blocked my sight,
While walking down this lonely road,
I broke down as every bit of pain unloads...

When I wiped off the tears from my eyes,
I saw this ancient-like payphone,
Calling onto me to have this chance to apologize,
For the sins that I want to atone...

As I dropped 25 cents,
What I was about to do got me tense,
Even though I know no one's gonna answer,
I didn't mind, I just had a lot of things to say to her...

The voice mail answers me,
Tears fell drastically,
I tried to speak though I had such difficulty,
This heavy burden has gotten me so guilty...

"I am really sorry for what I have done,
The temptation was hard to avoid,
The thrill of not having only one,
Blurred my entire vision that damage will be done..."

I pause as a piercing needle runs through my heart,
Unimaginable pain is starting to tore me apart,
I started to put my hand on my aching chest,
Then I look at the hands that I now detest...

Cursing these hands of a sinner,
These vile part of my body that easily gets possessed,
To touch an alluring thing that gets near,
These...These gullible hands that are enticing-obsessed...

I started to envision again a sore past,
Everything that happened was too fast,
I was on a date with someone else,
Unloyal to her was exceptionally selfish...

We were walking around this park,
Happily talking though it was a little dark,
My hands wrapped around her hips,
Then I stopped to deliver a kiss on her lips...

But before I could do it,
A sound of something that was broken stopped me,
I looked at that direction as the broken lights suddenly lit,
There, I saw my girlfriend stunned in front of me...

We were both shocked with such an unexpected scenario,
She just turned around crying silently,
Not a word was let go,
While I just stood there unknowingly what to do...

I tried to call out her name,
But she abruptly ran without no hesitation,
My actions were the only ones to be blamed,
I left the temptress to follow her in desperation...

I called her name again and again,
It was so hard to catch up to her,
My legs felt as if it's tied up on a chain,
The raging snow suddenly poured and my sight
of her started to blur...

I stopped for a moment to catch my breath,
Then a crashing sound made my eyes start to tear up,
I ran with a worried look to see what it was,
Only to see an incident before my eyes that got me paralyzed...

My girlfriend drenched in blood,
Her dried tears were still on her face,
I looked at the girl that always gave me love,
While memories flood me with those good-old days...

"I know I can't bring you back alive,
Losing you was the biggest mistake I made,
Now I don't know if I can still survive,
Without you I'm starting to fade..."

"I don't know why I did that to you,
I regret every little bit of it,
But you're lucky to escape excruciating pain to go through,
And I'm still fully alive and accepting it...

"I promise to you that I won't kill myself,
To show you how sorry I am to you,
I will go through this immeasurable suffering by myself,
Just to let you know that I really do love you..."
