One night stand

by Emily   Oct 4, 2008

Dust settling on a window pane
window's closed, 'cause it always rains
Where I live, light won't seep in
lines through the blinds, shake on the wind
This is no shadow, this is no shade
Sitting in the mess that I've made
Search for warmth, some relief
My eyes are closed but I can't sleep
Call it insomnia, call it a trance
It's always gray in ignorance
Sleep on the phone, but you won't call
I can't miss what I never had at all.
Waiting for the dirt to rise,
you'll come home, and look in my eyes
And apologize for an improper goodbye
I'd rather you return to turned off lights
Cold dinner, and a wasted night
Than to have been a stranger to you before.
Don't kiss me unless you'll give me more.

I dislike this poem, because it really is written literally, yet does not relate to me. Those types of poems mean little to me.
