Once is all it takes

by Tangible heartache   Oct 11, 2008

She sits on the park bench, the clouds hanging low in the sky,
She can't believe how this happened, how everyone said good-bye,
Her world was once happy and bright, everyone was always there,
But now they are gone, and sometimes life just didn't seem to be fair,

She seemed to throw everything away, exiled herself to her lonely mind,
But she didn't know what it could do, didn't know what she would find,
Now looking up at the sun, memories rush back and hit her at full force,
If she could have chosen her own life, this would never have been her choice,

Now sitting lonely in the park, the trees swaying in the breeze,
Seems like they have it better, doing whatever they please,
The flowers pushing through, blooming to their full,
But she is so plain and messed up, her life ever so dull,

Sometimes she wishes she could take it all back, end it from the start,
End her pain and misery; make sure her life doesn't fall apart,
But sometimes you can't do that, you make mistakes,
You get one chance, but sometimes once is all it ever takes.
