Dog tags

by Celeste Williams   Oct 15, 2008

Why are you gone
Away some where
I only get your voice
When I want you here

I want every hair
Every gaze of those unearthly eyes
Every piece of camo
Every note of laughter

All I want is to hear your voice
To look into your eyes
To feel your arms around me
At the same time

But I will have to wait
You have your duties
Your gun
Your dog tags

I will wait
Patiently and unwaveringly
For our lips to meet
Again
