The Hospital Scene

by Michael Verterel   Oct 17, 2008

She paced the room impatiently,
As her deepest fear grew immensely.
It's been hours since they've arrived,
But still no news, Could he have died?

Moments passed before the doctor came,
Calmly calling out her name.
"Your son just had surgery,
But he's safe because of me."

"I need to see him," she begged and begged.
Without word the doctor shook his head.
She entered room number sixty-five,
so pleased her child was still alive.

She knew he was in a secure place,
So her tears faded to a smile on her face.
She couldn't imagine losing her son.
He was but her first and only one...
