Carpet Jones

by Soulful Ensemble   Oct 17, 2008

He steps out to bring the paper in
She looks around to see if she can sin.
It never matters how loud they moan
...Its another day in the life of Carpet Jones.

He combs her hair and she pretends
She enjoys his hands that try to mend.
It always seems special when they're in the zone
... Its another day in the life of Carpet Jones.

He looks into her eyes succinctly and deep
She gouges his heart so she can see him weep.
It doesn't occur to anyone that the bird has flown
... Its just another day in the life of Carpet Jones.

He finds the answers in the bible, but blurry
She sees him reading between lies, so scary.
It seems that now they both realize the cover's blown
... Its just another day in the life of Carpet Jones.

He takes the coffee and tosses it down hard
She's scared he's losing his grip and feels scarred.
It feels, while they fight, like they will always be alone
... Its just another day in the life of Carpet Jones.

He says, "better to rule in hell than serve in heaven"
She says, "No, that turns my heart into a seven."
It goes to show that their sins will be atoned
... Its just another day in the life of Carpet Jones.

A dead man rises and says, "to be alive is to be happy"
To the dying man who cries all night and day.
"So get up and smile, and make it snappy"
"If you don't find the light, It'll come anyways",
Then the dead man goes away.

He comes back inside and says he's sorry
She kisses his lips to start a nicer story.
It'll be fine from this point on, they're in the zone
... Its just another day in the life of Carpet Jones.
