A Poem

by StandStill   Oct 18, 2008

You promised me this,
a lullaby song
to weather me through
the nights until dawn.

And you promised me well,
always believed in you.
But Jesse, I can't sing,
And I don't know what to do.

You say you don't know,
that you're nowhere tonight
and I can hear all the tears
that welled up in your eyes.

A glass of water half full,
can't be empty, my dear.
It's not going to be easy,
but it'll be a fast three years.

A lullaby from a poem,
a lovely, sweet song.
I can't give you anything,
to get you to dawn.

This is the best,
the best I can do.
Just another sad poem
written for you.
