Life in the Last Hour

by Soulful Ensemble   Oct 21, 2008

Dad is a laid back, white collar man
Mom cooks the eggs in the pan.
I wait silently by the empty can
That has a space we all wish we had.

The empty space in an old man's heart
Becomes sharply sound when he is apart
From his aching mind that never rests
As he misses the lady who brings his best.

Billy the Kid sits all alone, living free
And looking right up at the love tower.
He wears a shirt that says "You and me"
" Live life always in the last hour."

Billy squeezes the trigger with real power
At a man who gambled with white flowers
And purple daisies all fell to the floor
So Billy the Kid didn't like him anymore.

I heard a Republican say, " Your enemy is also mine"
I said, " well that's not fine"
"Why do you expect me to hate?"
"My beliefs don't just stay on a plate."

I know you like to watch the take downs
And debacles turn you on so fast.
You think you sit up high to wear a crown
The world moves when your net is cast.

And when you ask me where I'm from
I know you don't really care
Your smile is fake, your mind is torn
Your attitude's been unfair since you were born.

Its time to wake up, the pet contest is over
Every single dog will be a puzzled rover
And the training has paid off it seems
He'll do anything when your heart screams.
