Dance with the dragon

by Iola   Oct 28, 2008

A feverish and blushing bride
Holding onto the hand of the snake
Modestly impressed with his shiny ride
Licking the poison from the wedding cake

A black tied suit hides a slivering tail
The same one that would crush her back
Her eyes pour love as he lifts her heavy veil
He smiles sleazily whilst he read out his pact

Rices raining from the heavens above
A dance with the dragon commences tonight
His real face shows as he sheds skin with love
Now the monster reveals his true face under the light

White dress is now torn even worse
The bride's skin is turning a greyish pale
Her love for the dragon seems to be a curse
While the dragon wins her heart and pays a grand bail

Suddenly the dance no longer ever after
The snake laughs as he rips her heart out
The bride draws her sword and slits her master
Neither knows what the dance was all about

What I take from reading this is that people in a relationship wear mask and hide their true selves from each other. Eventually, those mask or layers are removed and the true self emerges. The relationship ends and neither person really understands or knows what or why it happened at all. The last verse is the one that I like the best.

Suddenly the dance no longer ever after
The dragon laughs as he rips her heart out
The bride draws her sword and slits her master
Neither knows what the dance was all about

Nice job comparing love to dance.
