He walks away...

by stillmomsgirl   Oct 31, 2008

He strokes her flushed cheek
as their lips meet for a moment,
a moment of truth
hanging in the air
stifling all other thought.
until it's gone,

vanished

into

insignificance.

A tear of rejection
carries a trail of
mascara down her cheek.
She curses and her nails
graze his face,
coming back with blood.

He

walks

away.

Sobs can be heard for miles,
apologies hanging on the wind.
The snow is coming harder
and he's lost in a wall of white.
People see him leave
but no one really knows he

carries

her

heart.

She knows he'll
be back for his.
And he'll faint when
he sees her surprise.
Her heart pounds,
thinking of that kiss she left

in

his

pocket.
