Heart Of Steel

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Nov 1, 2008

Sleeping on the grass.
Separated from the mass.
While the stars are shining bright.
Oh, how beautifully still is the night.

Thinking of you and how you do.
Or whether that lady is through with you.
My conscience is clear and guilt free
Because you were the one who walked away, not me.

I see the stars flirtatiously wink
Laughing at you while you're on the brink
Now you realize what you had lost when you let go
Your reasoning is a little bit too late and slow

I wonder why you left the diamond
For the crystal rock
And when the latter left you
On the former's door you knocked

I wonder why you secretly glanced
When you had a person far more advanced
You had with you the best of the best
But you were too stupid to win the test

Now I am just fine
I rise up while you decline
It's enough that time has made me heal
And it has given me a heart of steel.
