Imbroglio of Fortune

by Gabba Gabba Hey   Nov 4, 2008

Fortunado wasn't the only one to be caught behind a brick wall...

Bricks fall lazily from the indefinable sky like a haze of rusted tears.
like a waterfall, they descend,
murmuring, murmuring
sighing like the soft fall of a lovers whisper

this aberration of kindly smiles cascades from frozen faces
denying and dissembling the weeping scars of the hurt

Somewhere, I tilt my head,
the action holding all the charm of a child with the fangs of an adder
and playfully, I lick the edges of a broken dagger
staring into the irascible eyes of an uncouth something.

Smile, mercenary. You just might win.

Whenever I read one of your poems I see myself ten years from now in a bookshop somewhere staring at the cover of your new bestseller with the same vacant look in my eyes which have become my signature whenever I read something that blows my mind away.

This one was no exeption! You rock, Miss T!
