Shattered

by Michael   Nov 11, 2008

Dragged out, worn out, torn up
A week where I'd just sleep
Once I awoke from this feeling
Things seemed ok, I found strength
Strength too keep this love going
Awaiting your call, only to hear the words I fear
Shattered by you and only you
No one else can do such to me
To utter but a few words and shatter me
The shards my soul fell and scattered
I am a man who has had it all and lost it
A woman of such immense beauty
Her beauty was more than but skin deep
Oh, it was very much so deeper than that
Beauty of the soul
This soul that holds my heart firm in her grip
As she squeezes my chest tightens
My breath shallow
Pulse deep and slow
Much like the realization of what is happening
She took all my pain away, why is she doing such?
I've lost it, reaching for her hand to bring her back
I cannot even write this poem, no, for it is not a poem is it?
Nay, it is but the rant of one who knows not where to go
Or what to do!
I hold on to this world the by strand of hope
Thin and frail much like the gold strans of hair
Flowing from her head
What do you do when your world is shattered?
Do you turn to a bottle? All that you know you have?
It's brought you to death's door before
Do you try to move on with out her?
No, you know you can't go far with anyone else
Try, try as I might! She does not know
She is not sure, leaving me wonder
Forever more
