Dreaming of May

by Soulful Ensemble   Nov 16, 2008

I wear your ring like its your soul
Upon my finger, tight and never faltering
It gives me the light to feel whole
And my smile is now unaltering.

I buy the newspaper just to read bad news
Because thoughts of you bring out new hues
So that every sadness can't survive
In the face of happy lullibies.

I read books about crooks that fall
Down deep trenches filled with scum.
They try to crawl up, yell and call
For help that doesn't really come.
I feel like that when you're away
So long that I dream about May
When I'll see you clear and near
So that loneliness must steer away from here.

I see the sunny skies of spring
And wish time moved a little more
When I think of you I sing
And feel love at my core.

I burned out my sensitive sight
From staring at the sun too long
But I can see you clear like light
And I feel there's nothing wrong.

You and me belong.
