World She Knows

by meganmarie   Nov 26, 2008

Gorgeous on the outside
still hurting deep inside
she won't see past the image
that she sees deep in herself

perfection that will never be
is what she strives toward
flawlessness is what she means
that she must so acquire

has pushed away the world she knows
trapped inside this horror show
all the mirrors she looks into
all show someone she doesn't know

she gives up on the world outside
perfect hurts her still inside
and when the hands reach out to help
pushes them back without a word

all this torture she feels inside
with perfect her a far away wish
can't seem to even find herself
will no one help before its too late...?

--this poem is dedictaed to my best friend... i really wish i could help her, but she doesn't want it, and for her perfection is the only thing she'll accept of herself, and the things she does. it hurts to watch her fade away...--

Very well written!! This poem reminds me about myself a couple of years ago.. I know how hard it is when you are stuck in that pattern but I hope that your friend will be another me and realize that there is much more to her life than perfection and that maybe she is satisfied with being unperfect!

This is the story of my life. Perfectionist to the core, wont take anyone's help.

Is this the friend you told me about a while back, not that far back....
This is deep, and filled with your fear of havin' her search for PERFECT lead to a tragic end for you...
