Through a Soldier's Eyes

by Edward Latina   Nov 28, 2008

A misty haze, the fog of war,
Ringing ears, a constant roar,
Constant bloodshed, grisly gore,
A tear falls, please no more!

The soldier's face streams of despair,
"No man should want this, this Creature!"
He pities the young man waving his gun,
War is no longer a game to him.

His eyes have seen everything,
He is blind to it all.
Fight, die, merciless killing,
A constant cycle of pain and death.

He wipes his face and hoists his weapon,
There is to be no more of that stuff,
That familiar steel hardens his gaze,
It's time for the charge, Let them see his wrath!
