Into the Wilderness

by MissAlotta   Nov 30, 2008

The viper's vicious venom seeps into her wound
She shrieks shattering the silence of the jungle
It silently slithers back into the dim burrow
She stumbles and staggers across the river bank

Night blankets the rumbling tree tops
Starry skies stray across the moonlit jungle
Whispers and howls unleash into the stillness
Leaves crackle beneath the creature footsteps

The grinding and rattles accrue in the dark
Her frigid frost fingers are brought to her face
Stitching her lips from escaping her screams
Her eyes start to trickle tears of terror

The sun slowly seeks the sky's horizon
She abruptly awakens free from pain
Beneath her blankets drenched in a cold sweat
All simply a short and silent slumber
