Silencing the voice that speaks out.

by Lindsay   Dec 2, 2008

When we take for granted,
what we have.
we lose what we need,
and it never comes back.

when you hit a child,
like this father does now,
how will you stop it?
or do you know how?

this poor, small boy,
will never, ever live.
and he's been hurt, and he's hurting,
in way you could never forgive.

with a smack from a hand,
against cold, and scared skin.
he's only five years of age,
there's no way he can win.

His brothers and sisters,
what can they do?
they may be bigger, and stronger.
but they'll be hurt too.

this pain that he feels,
keeps their words at bay.
the mother does nothing,
and has nothing to say.

but, "you better stop it.
stop it real soon,"
but they're only words,
what good will they do?

he'll continue his tirade.
and forget what he's done.
he'll continue this hurt,
until he has won.

He has taken a life,
it's not easy to see,
but what do we care? it's not us.
it means nothing to you and me.
