Pretty

by bekka dollface   Dec 7, 2008

Ill paint you a picture
of a pretty little girl
shell fake a pretty little smile
in this pretty little world

she looks so nice
in her pretty little dress
with her pretty little curls
and everyone shell impress

youll see her pretty little house
on a pretty little hill
with a pretty little daisy
sitting in her window sill

but her pretty little world
is about to be revealed,
shell let everything out
her lips no longer sealed

on her pretty little dress
lays pretty little stars
and on her pretty little skin
lays pretty little scars

daddy gets drunk
and beats her with a belt
mommys had too many needles
so shes no help

"youve been a bad girl, sadie.
you promised youd be good.
come and take your medicine.
like a good little girl would."

a cup containing bleach
advil to ease the pain
shes doused gasoline
on daddys angry flame

raging with fury
channeling his anger
that pretty little girl
is now in danger

hell bind her by her ankles
shell take slashes to the back
"do not hit with angry hands"
shes the victim of an attack

blood splatters the walls
and all from daddys belt
she cannot go to school tomoro
for her body lays covered in welts

she cannot lay down
it haunts her to sleep
her nightmares reassure her
that again, she will be beat.

she grows up 3 years later
and still this goes on
until a social worker comes knocking
this is her freedom song

shes taken into foster care
and thats now her home
she has no way of covering
all he scars shown

but she did not speak of one detail
that haunts her from the past
her daddy was her forceful first
and possibly her last

the flashbacks will continue
to consume all of her trust
her daddy hurt her more and more
everytime he'd thrust

external scars cannot hurt as much
as internal scars
from daddys lustful touch

she cannot show compassion
her only love is dance
and when a boy does ask her out
she replies with "not a chance."

she doest try to be so rude
but they dont understand
that all of her traumatization
started with a man

so when you see her pretty little smile
that somethings trying to avoid
just know that her pretty little world
is pretty much destroyed

Another poem that is going on my favourite poems list! Once again i could almost feel what she is going through and it kills me to know that these things are going on in our world today!
