The Perfect Emblem

by Gabba Gabba Hey   Dec 10, 2008

Graciously, my knees bend to form a bow of sorts
and my head mirrors the motion in perfect synchronization

the unhappiness that controls my face
contorts into a smile
that's more or less pure

the safety of your returning smile
makes me forget the backwards roller coasters
those emotions that have made
a bad amusement park of our relationship

Hmm, that didn't come out right.
I suppose it never does.

The smile that coats your face in false dedication
melts into a pile of lying wax
that drips onto the envelope of my closing fate
the soul of your shoes making the final seal
