Joyful, Shining Eyes

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Dec 11, 2008

Sitting on my office
And browsing through the past
Looking at the pictures when I used to be beautiful
And thought that looks would last

I looked so carefree back then
With joyful and shining eyes
Those that saw life beautiful
And kept looking at the prize

I am but a girl of twenty years
With life ahead of me they say
But all my dreams have been shattered too soon
To me, life has gone away

But, will this thing ever arrive?
That will bring my youth and beauty back?
Make me happy and joyful again?
And take me back on track?

Will this thing ever come?
So I could believe in life once more?
And not worry about tomorrow
And be ready to open new doors?

Oh, fresh breeze of life
Renew my spirit again
Make me be who I used to be
The girl who doesn't pretend

The girl who doesn't pretend she's happy
But cries when she enters her room
And feels like everything is over
And it is time to expect her doom

I looked so carefree back then
With joyful and shining eyes
Those that saw life beautiful
And kept looking at the prize
