After Rain (Shakespearian Sonnet)

by Liquid Dreams   Dec 15, 2008

The beacon of light shines down from the sky,
Reflecting on water like jewels so bright.
A spectrum of color gleams in my eye
As I take in the radiating light.

Tiny diamonds dance on the dew-wet grass;
Graceful, they prance with ballerina feet.
Puddles are glistening like panes of glass
Where the rays of sun and the raindrops meet.

The wind blows and crystals fall from the trees,
Sparkling and glistening as they go.
With each gust the gems slide off of the leaves;
With a twinkling splash they land below.

When rain and sun collide in sky above,
It is God's promise of beauty and love.
