Winter Wonderland

by Beauty In The Breaking   Dec 30, 2008

The snow falling down oh so softly
in big fluffy flakes like cotton,
one by one they pile up
to create a blanket for the earth.

The smell of pine trees and hot cocoa,
listening to the sound of laughter
as children overturn their sleds,
people smiling spending time together,
seeing old friends we've missed.

Everything is glittering beautifully,
a sparkling white wonderland,
the beauty of the untouched snow
and the silence that comes with winter.

Giggling as the snowflakes land on my lashes
and tickle my nose with their playfulness,
the wind blowing them in dazzling designs
and nipping at my cheeks.

Winter is here once again,
long nights and cold days,
frostbite, snowmen and hot cocoa,
A winter wonderland.
