Tears Are Words The Heart Cannot Say

by Nawa   Jan 5, 2009

The clouds hit the moon and cover it, it is dusk,
His time, he enters the house with eyes so fierce and dark,
Wavering and shaking with burning anger and resentment,
I run and hide in my closet, clutching my hands together,
I spill a tear and pray: Please God make me invisible,
A ghost unseen by his monstrous mind,
I hear these footsteps that fill my heart with panic,
I shiver, as he slams the door shouting my name,
I hold myself close; he'll find me now,
He lifts me up away from the ground, as I plead,
Spare me this time, I haven't done anything wrong,
He slaps me to the ground, and I hear my head bang,
He pulls my hair and beats me with his iron hand,
I understand, should've never made it to this life,
But how is that my fault?!
He is done now, had his fun, emptied his rage,
I gasp for the air, as I sense the blood running beneath my little corpse,
I can feel my heart crying out loud, so loud it deafens the skies,
Why can't she hear it up there? Does she even care?
I look outside my window, see an innocent butterfly wandering around,
I look back at my blood, and realize that tears are words the heart cannot say..

Written about an article I read, that really touched me, about a young girl being abused by her father.

Great job, the flow is wonderful. You paint amazingly clear imagery in the readers mind, they really see it. The emotions are very clear.
