You Own Your Life

by Nanita   Jan 10, 2009

It's like you had no other choice when you committed that crime
The people you hung with basically controlled your life

Letting them take over you, listening to every word they said
Doing what was told or otherwise you'll be dead

Take a moment and see what you've become
Just think about it, think about what they've done

Do you like it? Does the cell make up who you are?
Can you look them in the eye and say they've took it too far?

Please don't answer; I know what you'll say
You own your life, I hope you realize that one day

Homeboys; Where are they when you are in so much need?
Probably chilling or partying, having fun or smoking weed

Now you have no say in the sentence that will be given
All you can really do is just sit there and listen

Hear them say: Ten years in prison with no parole
Take it like the man you are, or I thought you were

Confess your sin; Watch the tears roll down your mother's face
You've officially become a criminal to the people in this place

Don't take this time for granted, meditate on you
Take it as a lesson learned all that you are going through

Prove that you'll become so much more than a man
And no matter what you say or do, I know you can
