I do not move

by AngelEyez89   Jan 11, 2009

I stand still, stiff, poised and straight.
My eyes stare ahead of me, focused, calculating, skeptical.
The wind gently blows against me, caressing my skin, encouraging me to take the first step, urging me forward.
I remain still, I do not move.

The dark ocean tosses relentlessly in front of me, beautiful and treacherous in one. The tides of emotion reach for me relentlessly, wave after wave trying to weaken me, to knock me down. The wind whispers in my ears simple beautiful words "follow me"
I stay stiff, I do not move.

Rain patters down gently on me, crying for my body to move, begging me to shift just a bit further. To embrace what my eyes, already skeptical, regard wearily. The ocean crashes harder, the wind caresses with urgency, the rain pours down. They urge me towards the warmth.
I remain poised, I do not move.

They work together persistently, wearing me down, becoming more violent, more desperate in their attempts. Nothing gently left, just raw, rough, need. I grit my teeth preparing for their next waves of attack, each stronger than the last.
Then it all stops.

Beautiful, earth shattering, a sunrise emerges blinding me, catching me off guard. The colours innocently burn through my resolve with their spectacular glow.
I blink to adjust my eyes and it's just you standing their staring at me intently.
I stare back, cold, hard, emotionless.

Your whole face lights up into the most painfully beautiful smile and you hold a hand out for me.
I take a step forward

And fall.
