Rubix Cube No. 9

by Dwite Fry   Jan 13, 2009

I'm having a time telling the difference
Between the genuine and the steam of phonies
They held me up to the light and cut of my cojones
Shaker Makers and Rubik's Cubes
Space Invaders and Q*bert's Qubes
Half Signets and Fluorescent lubes
They've got a mind of Microsoft
And their body's a Ferrari
When my soul's an Atari

Two six hundred, five two hundred
Seven eight hundred, fifteen sixty-five
168 people died when the circus burned
Can anyone tell me what we've learned?

When it all builds up and pushes at the skull
And feels like everything is about to explode
Sometimes I just want to f--- strangers in the road
Florence Lawrence and Peg Entwistle
Dana Plato and Thuy Trang
Was that the Red Hood who rang?
Let's cancel Family Fortunes for Family Feud
How many TV presenters can I kill with a Rubik's Cube?

Two six hundred, five two hundred
Seven eight hundred, fifteen sixty-five
168 people died when the circus burned
Can anyone tell me what we've learned?

No idea. I wrote it really late one night. Steam of consciousness concept.

Shaker Maker - old kids toy, makes little figurines / Rubik's Cube - evil 3D puzzle / Space Invaders, Q*bert's Qubes - old arcade video games / Atari - a video game company, but here meaning their Atari-2600 computer, a very old, very simple video game console / 2600, 5200, 7800 - three Atari consoles / the fire is the Hartford Circus Fire, I've no idea why that's there, Little Miss 1565 was a victim of it / Florence Lawrence - the first movie star, worked for IMP and Biograph pictures / Peg Entwistle - first person to kill themselves by jumping from the HOLLYWOOD sign / Dana Plato - Kimberly from Diff'rent Strokes, killed herself / Thuy Trang - mostly known as Trini the original Yellow Ranger from Might Morphin' Power Rangers, died in a car accident / Red Hood - the original name used by The Joker in the Batman comics / Family Fortunes - game show. *phew*
