Flashdance Butterflies

by Painted on Smile   Jan 15, 2009

The evening ends
and they say goodnight
eyes meet
and closer they draw
a moment later lips meet
the screen goes black
as butterflies enter the stomach

laughter escapes their lips
as she leans against him
her hand on his shoulder
a simple gesture
a simple gesture that gives life
life to those butterflies of my stomach
as he swings her onto his back

butterfly wings beat in time with my heart
that flutters even harder as i think of you

their eyes meet, smiles curl their lips
for no matter what they have been through
the feelings will not change
even after that last dance
as they stand on the sidewalk
and she hands him a rose
Flashdance
