No Regrets

Counting down the days,
minutes and seconds pass me by.
So many things experienced,
in what seems like so little time.

Cherishing all the good things
and no longer regretting the bad.
Missing all the happy times
remembering some of the sad.

Had 2 all the way to the aces
in one simple deck of cards.
Conquering all the easy things
still struggling with the hard.

Yeah, life's had its obstacles
but I mastered them one by one.
Just one step at a time
and now I'm finally done.

Now I accept my last challenge
and I know I'll make it through.
Because I'll always remember the ones I loved
and how they love me too.

And although I'll be leaving them soon
I'll be with them every single day.
My mind will be at peace
in God's hands my soul shall lay.

I dedicate this to my great uncle who only has about six months to live. Even though this is the end of his journey he's cherished every moment of it (good and bad) and will always be loved.

By just using the words minutes and seconds pass me by. it seems to emphasis the time moving rather slowly.
hate when people put the number instead of the word in a poem it can kinda spoil it.

i think you wrote this very well, for such a subject, i love the way that you put it in your uncles perspective. it was very touching.

    god bless. x
