Voices

Like an echo on the wind, so far away from me
the whisper of the tide, draws waters from the sea
Like a dolphin in the surf, swimming in the shies
the seashells, crabs, the oysters, curling up...they die

As far as meets the eye, stumbling along the shore
A traveller alone, with a terrier for support
As gypsies park their vans, piles of litter on the moor
A vacant sound arising, does one but give a thought

Peace surrounding life, far from our promised land
the heavy droughts of rain, burst clouds of soaking sand
Peace in its tranquility, from far do mermaids call
the coastal guards acknowledging, a child's missing ball

Waves of distant continents, lovingly embrace our feet
tangy aromas of the beaches funfair, we can sense near
Waves of solitude sink, we feel the summer heat
consonance repeating itself, its all around us"...here

I stare into love, the romantic restraints of the bay
Could but one tell myself, "here" you may lay
Care not, do I, but sit, acknowledging this place
I tip a final glance, hope etched forever, on my face.
