Then She was Gone

by Sakura   Jan 21, 2009

Some said she was shy, others said she was distant

Most said they had seen her, but thought she was different

She chose to walk alone, though others wondered why

Refused to look before her, kept eyes cast to-wards the sky

She prayed among the gods, picturing them with halo rings

She dared to dream about them, flapping their golden wings

She didn't have companions, no need for earthly things

Only wanted freedom, from what were puppet strings

Whenever she felt so lonely, she imagined two best friends

With them she felt so happy, but sometimes it rather depends

She was raised an only child, learned how to play alone

She became quite independent, her emotions portrayed as stone

She longed to be an eagle, as she might fly far away

She pitied every mountain top, for planted they would stay

Some say she wished too hard, some say she wished too long

We awoke one winter day, to find that she was gone

Her room was left untouched, no one dared to peak

Leaving people without answers, causing some rumors to leak

The trees they said stood witness, the sky refused to tell

But someone who has seen it said, the story played out well

Her gorgeous eyes closed tight, as she lifted her fragile head.

Toward the heavens up above, no words were ever said

She spread her arms out wide, breathed in the break of dawn

She just let go of all she held, and then she was gone

This was a really good poem! It was pretty sad, but it was well written and explained how a girl felt without going too much into her emotions
