Going Our Separat Ways

by Crippled Wing   Jan 23, 2009

*This poem is about my friend and I going out to bait hogs to hunt later...and for days everybody had been telling us horror stories about how these hogs will attack...and well the poem says the rest.

I remember the one fateful day
That we went our separate ways
The day we heard a sound in the tall grass
You thought it was a hog wanting to chase your ass
We looked at each other in that split second
"Don't do it man, don't do it!" you beckoned
But I had a glow in my eye
I ran towards the sound as you ran by

You were scared and I was brave
Shoot, you looked like you saw a bear in a cave!
But much to my disappointment it was just a group of quail
I was sad and your heart was still a little frail

But laughter soon filled me
After seeing the tangled mess
you got into as you were trying to flee
caught on a electric fence with corn in your left arm
you didn't even feel the shock because of the current alarm
it was a pathetic sight, I will have to say
but that's what you get for running away

So what's the moral of this story?
Well, no guts, no glory
...or...um...maybe a better moral would be
if you're unarmed and dumb enough to chase a hog
you better have a fast jog
...and be sure your friend holds the fence
so actually I guess the true moral is....
be sure you're always with your friend when things get tense!
