The TIME of Forgotten Shadows

by Cam M   Jan 30, 2009

We came upon the once-turned stone
to find it now as dust
memories of long-ago
burned out to but a husk

bleakness of the weathered soul
captivated in the moment
weakness in this mesh of bones
as engrams begin to foment

strata of hippocamal lore
active within this view
firing, cogitating, turning on
reactive to such visual stew

what have we lost, foregone this day
to lead toward such a nest
what drives this beast, turning back
upsetting the past at our behest

the sand fly kicks feebly now
prostate in strong light
as if evidence of a final call
a farewell to the remembered blight
