Dear Me

by Heidi   Feb 4, 2009

Dear me,

It has been a long year without you,
I really miss that smiling face.
You're trying to hold on to yourself,
But your laughter I cannot trace.
Maybe you're slowly falling apart,
Because you miss your dad so much.
But I want you to know that I'll always be there,
I couldn't tell you that enough.
I'll be the person standing in the mirror,
When you're having a bad day.
And I'll be the one to help you cry,
And I'll try to have all the right words to say.
Just promise me one thing,
Please, please don't fall apart.
Because I need you here with me,
You and I, we cannot part.
Because you are the one that holds me up,
And you're honestly my best friend.
I don't know what I'd do without you
And one day I will help your heart mend.
When nobody else will listen,
I turn to you with all my fears.
And I know that you will never judge me,
No matter how many tears.
You're one of the strongest people I know,
I don't know where I'd be without you.
You have helped me through so much,
And I know whatever you say is true.
You wouldn't intentionally hurt me,
You always want to keep me safe.
And even though I'm hurting now,
You're always there - just in case.
You're my rock that I lean on,
And you let me risk anything.
Just so that I can learn my lessons,
And dance through the rain.
You want to be there with me for all my firsts,
You want to watch me change a life.
You're my light in the dark,
But even if it's dark, you help me face the night.
So please don't leave me,
Because you were with me since I was born.
Dear me, you have changed my life,
And you will be there through all of the storms.
You are my inspiration,
The one I look to every day.
Experience everything with me,
Don't go anywhere, Heidi-May.
