Strangled

by Emily   Feb 4, 2009

Mercury runs wild tonight.
It makes me eager to sleep
The world spins despite his flight
And prepares for restless dreams.
I've seen your palms,
and they're not clean,
Despite how much you've tried.
Scrubbing and rubbing has helped you none,
My mind is still feeling fried.

Your hands are not around my neck,
Yet I find it harder to breathe.
It's not cabin fever,
It's stronger and deeper,
Please, just let me be.

But I feel that it's festering
while the walls close in around me
I'm stammering my pleas,
Please just give me the keys,
Spinning so fast and then freeze.

I just have to get out of here.

___________
This had no structure, but I wanted the last stanza to feel like an increased heart rate until the last line just makes it stop.
