Life

by Deana   Feb 8, 2009

Peaceful illusions, as I lie in solitude
Waiting for the day when the sun
will release its rays
Warmth on a cold heart
Laughter and moonlight, quiet walks
Waiting, waiting, the incessant waiting
for life to begin.

Did I miss it somehow, while I was sleeping
Did it go by so quickly, like the blur
of a fast moving train
Or did I forget to savor its sweetness
Do we get to press a button, return to start
Go much slower this time
Whisper words of love more often, laugh louder

This time I will not forget
I will revel in the reds of the sunset
breathe in the lavender of the lilacs
Let the wind blow my hair as free
as it wants.
This time I will not forget
to remember...life.

Oh my how we all wish we could go back and change how quickly life has passed us by. This was an excellent write. I think there is a very important message in here that we should never let a moment pass us by in regret. Wonderful job on the poem dear. Lovely Write.

I am sure we all could relate to this beautifully written poem. So many times we take it for granted and realizes how much it means. Very nicely written dear.

Sometimes when we read something it just really gets to you. This got me.

Did I miss it somehow, while I was sleeping
Did it go by so quickly, like the blur
    of a fast moving train
Or did I forget to savor its sweetness
Do we get to press a button, return to start
    Go much slower this time

Sometimes when I wake and open my eyes. I really think things are like they were years ago. I have to lay for awhile to realize it is all gone. That I wasn't dreaming. That this is reality.

This time I will not forget
I will revel in the reds of the sunset
breathe in the lavender of the lilacs
Let the wind blow my hair as free
    as it wants.
This time I will not forget
    to remember...life.

How much we would change and remember if we were given the chance to rewind and redo our lives.
