Gran

by Beautiful Chaos   Feb 23, 2009

Be anything you want to be
She whispered in my ear
Pauper, queen or vagabond
Always be sincere

Never let them hear you lie
When all you have is truth
Do not dream of growing old
And miss out on your youth

Lift your head towards the sky
Be proud of who you are
Even when you stumble dear
You'll be my shining star

Granny always had a way
Of making it alright
"Life is what you make of it"
She'd usually recite

Little bits of wisdom found
In every word she said
Every action that she took
The joyous life she led

Any time I'm feeling low
I reach inside my mind
Stroke her memory lovingly
Letting thoughts rewind

Back to the days she held me close
And whispered in my ear
Be anything you want to be
My love is always here

Jenn This is magnificent. What a beautiful testimony of the love of a grandmother. I feel particularly drawn to this poem because of the bond my grandmother and I share. It is as though she would have written the same for me. Wonderful Job.
