Our Future, Your Fault

by Allie   Feb 27, 2009

My heart breaks with every lie,
a little piece gets lost in time.
Every 'I love you' is just another phrase,
another lie to get me to stay,
to keep me blind and dazed.
You were such a player,
bent every rule from the start.
I got caught up in your net,
when I saw an invisible spark,
one that couldn't tear us apart.

So why do you still lie to me,
thought you were better than that.
I can't believe I said all those things to you,
even after all the months that have passed.
Wish I could take it all back,
cause then I wouldn't have made that same mistake thrice.

I used to dream of our future,
five, ten, forever from now.
We'd get married, be a happy couple,
forget all the times you had cheated on me.
I'd have your children,
name them after people we've met.
Maybe grow old together,
share the wrinkles of our past,
....but then I wake up.

You had to betray me,
after everything we were suppose to be.
Might as well have clipped my wings,
because all you did was shatter my dreams.
It had to be me,
an innocent girl you never got to know.
Never cared enough to show up,
to dry my tears.
You never heard my ideas,
just ran and hid.
All because I loved you,
you lead me to a bottomless pit.
