Sidewalks

by ilikepurple222   Mar 2, 2009

Sidewalks.
They don't care if you haven't had time to visit in awhile. Whether or not you answer their questions.
They don't care what you look like. Whether you look like you just crawled out under a rock, or if you look pretty. They don't judge.
I guess that's why I started running. I wanted time to immerse myself in adrenaline. To run away from all of the problems in life. The only sound I hear is my accelerating breath and the occassional music on my iPod. The only feeling I manage to let in is my heart beating faster and faster.
But what will happen when the movement stops? Or even the music? What will you do when the sidewalks end? Will you cross into the road, or will you decide to give up and go home. It's up to you whether or not you choose to let it all end. Just like running. When the pain comes- go faster. Then it won't hurt anymore.

I know it's a poem of running away from one's worries but it's worded in such a surreal way. It makes me smile. It captures the average teens thoughts of denial. It makes me examine the things i did and if it aided to an escape of ones self.

When I read your poems or your latest ones I realize that both come to the point of "an end" of something. It really makes you think. Keep it up!!

Hey this is really cool. it was cool how you talked about sidewalks not judging you and stuff. i love the incorporation to running obviously because i enjoy running so its relatable to me. the ending was motivational too when you paralleled emotional pain with physical pain, saying to run through it and it wont hurt anymore. thats hard to do sometimes but its so true. cool beans Kalli
