Colors are Irrelevent

by Joy   Mar 3, 2009

Tired eyes, tired minds didnt sleep back then
Servile, slavish, and Under the heel, kept pushing and persevered
These days us youth see no reason to shove
All of those life lessons shown to have barely been adhered

Acknowledgment of your hopes and dreams is almost suppressing to adolescence these days
since the new negro turned heads and swollen hearts in Harlem
Still discrimination of race is more than just a phase
I wish that i could take their traits and let my brothers borrow them

Through freedom of speech, souls open to be seen by sexist eyes
Writers, poets defended what they believed in for years
We need to televise publicise and surely realize
That because they spoke, wrote and quote, African Americans have a voice free of fear

Some sexist born eyes have been illuminated with equality
The oppressed speak out, not with anger but with beauty
Big hearted riches shared to doom empty hearted poverty
Lending a hand when one is out to you is an unmentioned but well-known duty

A shame the world doesnt know, grew up with deficient education
Do we fear Intelligence?
My people to be burdened, captive, charged and cumbered
Through the High eyes of the forgiver
Colors are a mere Irrelevance

We reap the benefits our ancestors were conceded
But the fact is there are somethings that go left Unknown
We mortify ourselves by not caring
Consuming the Knowledge is enough Grattitude Alone
