A Game With A Heart On A String

by Em   Mar 7, 2009

You play with my heart on a string
You're amused by this peculiar thing

You love this new beautiful toy
It makes you laugh and fill you with joy

You push all your other things aside
And show my heart to your friends with pride

You keep my heart, it's yours after all
And you play with it while I wait for your call

But the call never comes, but I still wait
Because someone told me it's never too late

You tell me "you're heart is getting old"
And something about someone else to hold

I realized it was never fair play
When you walked away while I begged you to stay

Cause the toy is not worth to heal
And you want someone you can love for real

So my heart is stuffed away on a shelf
Sitting in dust wondering where it lost itself

Yes, you played with my heart on a string
Now it's just another broken, worn out thing
