Breath of the Frozen Witch (Collab with TJ BECKER Arizona Eagle)

by Italian Stallion   Mar 10, 2009

Breath of the Tundra witch blows frigid across the land.
Voices of the wind howl and are legion in command.
Oceans morph into glass as snow chases down the day.
Permafrost over rocky ground where caribou come to play.

Stately mountains in purple cloaks, laced with brilliant white,
Silhouette the majestic kings as day withers into night.
Nature's a master painter, with a palette of infinite hues,
the sky serves as a canvas softening the rocky muse.

Movements caressing daylights will, glistening white's now ado.
Subdued haze lingering through sighting mountains crisp air dew.
Piercing through the rugged rocks bleed the crystal clear and blue.
Abluvion rivers baltering amidst, defoliating trees now imbue.

Amongst warmth of bristle nests a baby broad-tailed hummingbird sits,
singing a heartfelt potpourri like it's a battle of the wits.
Dazed, confused, lost, a wolf in distress searches for food in little bits
Starving, limping, struggling for survival not calling it quiets.

The Miracle of the Sun displays its opaque uniqueness
Following sinister skies by a downfall of rain taking a recess.
Many succumb to extreme cold yet beauty fills their eyes
Bodies buried beneath the snow met by her charms disguise.

Wow I'm speechless... not a flaw in any line! I love how every single line is like packed. No filler words, theyre each very important and work together to bring an awesome collection of metaphors and images.... I'm in love with the line "Nature's a master painter, with a palette of infinite hues", its just so easy to relate to, expecially when talking about the sky, which is mentioned in the next line... its a MAZINGGG

Now if there's one type of poetry I absolutely adore, it would have to be nature poems. And this is no exception; in fact, this is definitely one of the best I think I've ever read.

"Voices of the wind howl and are legion in command."

^^ I love how the wind is given such a high status here, like it's an entire entity which is taking over an entire land, much like the wind does. It can be such a powerful force - and dangerous if reckoned with.

"Nature's a master painter, with a palette of infinite hues,
the sky serves as a canvas softening the rocky muse."

^ My favourite lines of the entire poem. Relating nature to artwork is beautiful, because nature is indeed the purest form of art out there. The word usage of 'palette' and 'canvas' keep this artistic feel there, and makes me want to actually go and begin painting nature. It's so beautiful. This part was genius.

"Dazed, confused, lost, a wolf in distress searches for food in little bits
Starving, limping, struggling for survival not calling it quiets."

^ I didn't quite enjoy these lines as much. They were too long and rocked the flow a little bit. Also the '...food in little bits' is just so unpoetic in comparison to the other stanzas. I think if some of the detailing words were taken out, it might have worked better. It's too jam-packed.

Overall though, I'm truly amazing. If I can write one day like you guys can, I'll be very proud.
