A New Day, Any Day Now

by Soulful Ensemble   Mar 12, 2009

Weeping violets never seemed so dear
As when my heart lied dying of fear
In the corner of love and hate Boulevard
With a dying embrace that turns a soul so hard.

When I gaze into the sky and it looks back and me
I feel comforted by its rays of glowing glee
As the sun strokes my heart about
And I feel I'm turned inside out.

I hear lovers crying together,
Wishing for the sun
Amid this ten o'clock weather,
That has only just begun.

The tears of dying dogs with broken teeth
Flow from the steps of your house to me.
I cried for you on a cold Sunday morning
As you were still left in mourning
From the death of your vanity that used to flair
Even as the wind fluttered around your hair
With a beauty unmatched and so rare
That anyone who sees it is instantly scared.

Your face has changed, with sad eyes
You gaze through me and to the sky.
I look at you so puzzled, trying to guess
If you're the same girl with whom I was blessed.

I thought for so long that I knew your name
But you were masked and hiding behind a frame.
When the sun comes up I wont ask " how?"
And it will be a new day, any day now.
