I Am Me

by Armada the Gestalt   Mar 25, 2009

With reluctant arms I swing the axe,
I know I cannot do it on my own,
But I somehow, do.
The words fall to the block below:
I am alone.

Been following the wrong dream too long,
The pleasant path that leads to - where?
Tired feet and aching palms and nothing?
Or something for your work,
A fond memory, maybe,
But I don't belong where wraith men tread,
Should switch your road, trudge theirs instead.

Since everyone knows I'm just another grain of sand,
Beneath the restless ocean of the world and
captured in your hand.

Much as it burns you cannot be,
Locked down by the waves beneath my sea,
You can't hold onto what my stars decree:
The reason's simply,
That I am me.
