Do you think

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Apr 14, 2009

Yes. I am beautiful.
And yes. I am strong
Do you think I would be alive now?
If I was weak all along?

It was the courage inside of me.
Which made me stand up once more.
And it was God who helped me.
And alleviated my sores.

Now, who do you think you are?
And how do you sleep at night?
When your conscience is at war with itself
And it can't find the light?

Can you really close your eyes?
And pretend that all is fine?
You have everything you want
Yet you always whine.

But me, I have nothing left but my conscience.
This to me is the most important of all.
I do not believe in injustice.
And building fake walls.

At least I can sleep at night
Knowing I was not unjust.
One day you'll get what you deserve
And in Karma, I trust.

Finally, how do you sleep at night?
When your pages are not white?
When your conscience is at war with itself
And it can't find the light?

So yes, I am beautiful.
And yes, I am strong.
Do you think I would be writing this now?
If I was weak all along?
