The Box in the Closet

by Kayl   Apr 15, 2009

There's a box in my closet,
hidden deep in the shadows,
it holds the memories i will miss,
and the lips i cannot kiss.

Its burried deep, with all the lingering feelings,
set aside, for when my heart feels time o'stealing.

On rainy days, or days of blues,
I'll open the closet doors,
and think of you.

The box should not be open,
for a very long time.
No drug, no drink, no amount of time can speed up this rhyme.

It's a box full of love and heartbreak,
it's the memories that time decided to take.

All the notes and letters left unread,
all the things that were left unsaid.
I keep this box, full of it all,
Just to make sure, i do not fall.

Years from now, when we have forgotten who we were,
I'll open the box, and my eyes will blurr.
I'll remember the good times, and the fun that we had.
I'll disregard all the fights that we had.
I'll reminice about our first kiss,
and your face will surely be missed.

I'll add more letters and notes, from other past lovers,
I'll make sure its your face that it covers.
I'll keep the box for the days when I'm sad,
It will be my keepsake of the memories that I had.

I'll push the box deep back into the closet,
I'll turn around and walk down the stairs,
I'll flee into the arms that care.

He'll hold me tight, and treat me right, and everyday he will comment and fret about how anyone who let me go is bound to regret.

---
This is for my friend and I, and it's a reminder that we will move on from our lost loves, and find someone who wants us for us!
