If god had it in for you

Why in my 20 years has all this happened to me?
has God not had enough laughs yet?
why can he not set me free?
I've been down this road too many times before
each time thinking i just cant get any lower
but i was wrong, life just keeps pushing me on and on

was i born to cry?
to live only those days that you cant see no way out but die?
was i born to hurt?
tell me, what would you do,
if God had it in for you?

i've seen pain through the eyes of a child
some so heart wrenching cause it wasn't all mine
to have your heart ripped out can be a fate worse than no other
but what can you do when tiny pieces were ripped out cause of the actions of your mother?
these things sleep away inside me 'til the point when they're ready to play
and then they go to town, and i don't want to see another day

was i born to cry?
