The Long Cold Spring

by Soulful Ensemble   Apr 28, 2009

We traveled the darkness and entered the cold
We held hands by the hallway with the crusted mold
And all along you laughed and grinned,
As my smile awakened against the wind.

I'm left with empty thoughts and fearful emotions
Of missing you and being blind to all the little motions
Because I feel my mind is one great big ocean
Full of confusion that can affect me like a potion.

And its been a long cold spring with many frozen days
But you held my chilling hands and made it all okay.
I want to let you know I love you in so many ways
And that I'll hold you tightly now from May to May.

Spring is almost over and I seem to reminisce
Uncontrollable thoughts of love that strongly jump and hiss.
I can't ignore the fact that it is you I miss
So I hope you feel me in the wind that I softly kiss.

I'm blowing love to you with every gust that thrusts
Through the open air thats empty and full of dust.
I hope that it arrives to smoothen out the rust
As it combusts with love to kill every bit of lust.

Soon I'll be with you, I promise, wherever it may be
But, first, I need to pave the road thats just for you and me.
I'm clearing the way, erasing all that was diseased
And picking up the bits of dirt on my hurting knees
With a pair of dusty eyes I can clean all the debris
So that you and me will smile and finally be free.

I think that you remember, its been a long cold spring
With days like cold Decembers that wanted just to cling
And you held my hand so softly through every chilling sting
So that now I know that really your love is not a fling.

I'm happy in your eyes that open early in the sunset
And welcome me inside your mind that always loves it.
You can see my eyes emit an energy that is legit
Because the look I give is from a heart that never quits.

I wont forget we traveled the night and came to the cold
And loved each other gently with one common goal
As we walked at night, on our midnight stroll
Whispering loving words that made my soul feel whole
Like sweet Alice not falling down the rabbit hole.

Brings warmth; 'cute' ending; puts a smile on a face; nice work.
